i was looking back at entries from two thousand two and discovered that the quality of my writing has atrophied to the meager min. instead i post pictures to satisfy the curiousities of wisping watchers. maybe it's because i don't think people read now a days. its like grade school when we flipped thru books for the pictures and filtered out the words... (or was that just me?)

[so funny that i had to share...]

ctrl-c and -v'ed from a brother and friend

[roughly translated from mandarin]

me: im going to visit alice. shes been complaining that i dont spend enough time with her. i'll be back sunday.

my dad: again?! you were just there a couple days ago and spent alot of time with her.

me: i know.

my dad: [points finger at me] ahahahahha. youre screwed!! hahahhahaa. shes got you in a cobra clutch. ahahhaa [makes choking motion at his neck with both hands and makes a gagging noise, then proceeds to tie an imaginary noose around his neck and hang himself with tongue sticking out]

me thinking to myself: what an ass! did he just really do that??

what i actually say: later dad, thanks for the advice.

you my boy stan!

[The Weekend Update]

EDIT: forgot to give jenn credit for the photos.

Started off Saturday with a date... with the mechanic. Who else has a love/hate relationship with their cars? I know some of y'all feel me. Then on the note of spontaneity, I rolled with the lovely Jenn Tsao to the the Emerald Nuts Quality of Life Expo at the LA Convention Center where we devoured a bacon-wrapped hot dog with all the fixin's, sampled every energy bar known to man, and signed up for the 11th Annual LA Bike Tour.

I know, I know... it probably sounds like 20+ miles of torture on the ol' twig and berries at first glance, but I'd figured it be a great way to see a different side of LA. Plus, it was a good excuse to carb up the night before so Di, Jon, Justin, and I hit up Hometown Buffet! (Sorry Don). Then I found out, I'd have to wake up at 4AM. No biggie... suck it up right? yea right...

Anyways, this is what the course looked like:

It was basically the same course for the LA marathon (which started a few hours after us) with a different start and finish location. The course took us through the major arteries of the city and past notable LA landmarks (if Hodori counts).

Onto the pictures!

These were my riding mates for the day

Doing my best Lance Armstrong impression

The first of many mile markers

Breaking away from the pack on the Tour de City Des Anges

With my accountability buddy

I was reppin' the old school with my retro Nike breaker and helmet from the 80's and 90's respectively

That's Sunshine, our fellow AKPsi bro from SC rocking the pink hot pants

Mile 23... almost there

"The Flying V" for you Mighty Ducks fans

Photo Op at the finish line!

Celebrating victory in front of Tommy Trojan (not pictured cuz the person helping us out is photographically-challenged)

Another medal for the trophy case!

Sunshine being silly with the 5K Run/Walk people

Went car shopping with the boys in the afternoon. Capped off the night with big bowls of pho and root beer floats. All in all, I really enjoyed the experience (and the 4-hr nap that followed). There's something special about being a part of something bigger than the individual... from the 15,000+ participants who rode beside me, to the residents who woke up at the butt crack of dawn to cheer from the sidelines of their lawns. The city is truly full of angels. Aside from the sore bum, I look fwd to doing it again next year. Any takers?

Okay update nazis... let me off the hook for a while. (I better get some "blog eProps" for this Don) G'nite.
